Unemployment
Problems
- State Unemployment Figures are Wrong on Reports
- Check the State Unemployment taxable amount to make sure that
the amount is correct. (ie: 7,000 instead of 7,009)
Setup -> System -> Calendar Years
- Verify the State Unemployment Rate.
Setup -> Payroll -> State
- The State Unemployment Rate changed from last year.
- Go into Setup -> Payroll -> State.
- Enter the Rate for this year in the Rate Field
- Enter the Rate for last year in the Alternate Year Rates

- New Jersey Unemployment Disability (NJUD)
Setup -> Payroll -> Payroll Items
- Change the Item Type to Percentage
- Enter 0.925 into the Percentage Field
- Enter 23900 into the Maximum Field
Leave the Minimum Field Blank
The way the tax works is that NJ Disability (.005) and NJ Unemployment (.00425) are taken out together. The total amount that is taken out is:
23900 X .00925 = 221.07
