Cannot Register Controls During Installation
Note: Ask if they have installed Tax Works tax program. This program damages a couple of files. You can check to see if this is the problem by:
- Check to see if System Information will come up without an error.
- Click on Start
- Highlight Programs
- Highlight Accessories
- Highlight System Tools
- Click on System Information
- If there are damaged file you will get the following message:
Msvcirt.dll file is linked to missing export
msvcrt.dll: ??_u@yapaxi@z
Note: I had one instance where the system was complaining about
MSINFO32.exe and MSVCRT40.dll. Once I restored the
MSVCRT.dll file the system stopped complaining and I was able to
install the program.
Note: I had one instance where the system was complaining about the
MSVCRT40.dll file being missing, but the system was already
installed and the MSVCRT.DLL and MSVCIRT.DLL files were
fine. Since our program installs the MSVCRT40.dll I had them
remove the program and reinstall.
- Get back to the desktop
- If the first step doesn't give you the error check the version of the files.
- MSVCRT.DLL - 6.00.8797
- MSVCIRT.DLL - 6.00.8168
