Receipts and Deposits
This is where you can enter:
- Deposits
- Transfers
- Return Fees
- Purchase Checks
- Return Deposit (Bad Check)
- Interest
- Service Charge
- Misc
- ATM Withdraw
Remember: All figures should be entered as positive numbers.
- Cash Deposits: Select the distribution account and then enter.
- Currency: Enter a "$" in the Description Field.
- Coin: Enter "COIN" in the Description Field.
- Returned Checks - Returned checks are normally handled in (2) steps, since most banks will list the items separately on the Bank Statement. You normally want the Bank Reconciliation Sheet to match your Bank Statement.
- Return Deposit - Enter the amount of the bad check.
- Return Fee - Enter the amount the bank has charged you for returning
the check.
- Laser Deposit Slips - To print the MICR codes on blank deposit slip paper the customer needs to have the MICR option turned on.
- Setup -> Cash Accounts -> Ck Writing Bank Data
- Routing & Account Number (for Deposit Slips) - Enter the
Routing Number and Accont Number with the proper MICR
Letters (A, B, C or D) and spacing.
Note: The spacing is extremely important. If incorrect the bank with
reject them. Same is the proper MICR Codes.
- Setup -> Align Laser Checks
- Field Name -> Bank Rout/Dep Slip
Note: The name is located near the bottom of the
list.
- Modify Location: These are good starting numbers.
- Laser Deposit Slip is showing a lump sum entry instead of individual entries for the items entered.
This will happen if you make entries to the same account one after the other without changing the description. The following entry will appear as a 600.00 lump sum entry to Sales.

If you enter a different description for each entry you will get separate lines on the deposit slip. The following entry will show 3 lines one for Socks, one for Shoes and one for Boots.
