Installing Windows Installer Clean Up Option (Q238413)

  1. Explore to our CD-ROM.
  2. Click on the Utilities Folder
  3. Click on the Service Pack Folder
  4. Click on the Clean Up folder
  5. Click on the folder that corresponds to the version of windows you are running.

    Note: XP is compatible with the Windows 2000.

  6. Double click on the file listed.


  7. This will install the Microsoft Installer Clean Up Option.

    Note: Make sure to accept the license agreement or it wont install.

    Note: It you get a message similar to this.

    This is the Windows NT version of the Installer Clean Up Utility and will not run on Windows 98/95

    1. You have gone into the wrong folder and executed the wrong EXE. Go back and select the correct folder and EXE.

    2. The computer has been updated from an older version of Windows to XP and the computer in confused. In which case the program cannot be installed.

To run the clean option.

  1. Left click on Start
  2. Click on Programs
  3. There should now be Microsoft Installer Clean Up Option. Click on it to run.
  4. A list of programs available to remove will be listed.
  5. Find Software from PC Software
  6. Click on it to highlight it.
  7. Click on Remove. This will remove all references to our program from the registry. But will not actually remove our program from the hard drive.
  8. Now reinstall our program.

    Note: You may have to install the program then uninstall it the normal way. (Though the Add/Remove Programs option) and reinstall it to get it to work.
