Boundless/RunRiver

  1. When you install the SunRiver Drivers DO NOT INSTALL ENTIRE PRODUCT. Both the UNIX and XENIX drivers come on the same diskette. Installing the entire product will cause problems.

NOTE: If they have DOS MERGE. It must be installed BEFORE you install the SunRiver Drivers. As SunRiver modifies DOS Merge.

    OpenServer 3.2v5+

    OpenServer 3.2v4x

  2. The standard installation we do uses the following parameters:

    IRQ 10
    Base Address d000
    Automatic allocation of multiscreens (0)

  3. The number of multiscreens allowed per station is defined during installation of the SunRiver Drivers. You can check this number by do a 'hwconfig -h' and seeing what ms is set to.

  4. SunRiver only sets up the first 4 ports when the drivers are installed. You will need to run /usr/bin/srdevs to set up any additional ports.

    srdevs 4-7 (old)
    srdevs 4 7 (new)

Will set up the next 4 ports.

NOTE: You will need to reboot the computer to be the system to see the terminals.

  5. So see the status of the SunRiver board type in srstat.

  6. If you have additional SunRiver host adapters to install. USE THE SAME BASE ADDRESS AND IRQ FOR EACH ADAPTER. The only thing that should differ from adapter to adapter is the CARD ID number.

If either the Base Address or IRQ between the 2 boards is different the system will not see the other board.

  7. If the old board had DB9 connectors and you are going to a board that uses RJ45 connectors.

    Check:

    1. Use the new RJ45 break out box.
    2. Ask about the connectors and cables they are currently using.
      1. Make sure that they explain exactly
      2. Make sure that the connectors came from us. If not you could end up frying the pizza boxes.
    3. Use the pig tail and connectors we sent to connect the old cables to the new box.

  8. If only 5 or less terminals come up under srstartx check to see if startx 55 works. If so then check the following:

    1. Check the /etc/conf/node.d/Xsco file and make sure there is and entry for every terminal.
    2. Check the /etc/conf/pack.d/sp/space.c file and make sure that NSUMSP is set to 256
    3. Relink and reboot

NOTE: The steps are described in detail in the Boundless User's Guide pages 32-33.

  9. If you have more than one board you must use the same IRQ as the first board. If you use another IRQ the system will not see the second board.

  10. Boundless adapters only work with TRIDENT PCI cards.

  11. The Diagnostics Disk is a bootable disk. It will search the computer for the adapter while loading. If it finds an adapter the Main Menu should appear and list the adapter on the bottom of the screen.

    Mode: Main Menu -- Channel: 0 -- Base Address: 000d0000 -- IRQ: 10

You can also check the connection to the terminals by having them turned on and take the option to Check Stations.
